The helicopter took off from the roof of a building in the busy city of Medellín, Colombia, as it instantly started to spin.

The longer the aircraft struggled the quicker the propellers whizzed overhead until it came to an abrupt halt when it collided with a restaurant building.

The journey lasted seconds as it crashed into a building just a few metres away from the spot where it took off.

It then plummeted down the side of the building before being caught up on a large communications antenna and left hanging almost upside down in the sky.

In the video, panicked onlookers filming the whole horror ordeal can be heard saying: “It fell, they’ve been killed.”

But miraculously, all six people on board survived the scary crash.

Help rushed to the smashed up chopper as over 70 rescue workers had to work tirelessly to get the people free and down to safety.

One of the two pilots manning the helicopter left the scene with a broken leg and was sent straight to hospital, say local reports.

While the four tourists and co-pilot escaped with only minor injuries.

The frightening near fatal air disaster happened on the evening of February, 26.

Local authorities are now investigating if the accident was down to a technical problem with the chopper.

The helicopter was a Bell 206 and is used in Medellín to carry tourists across the city in just a 15 minute journey.
