A new report published on Wednesday revealed the huge sums of money paid by the Israeli treasury to protect relatives of Israeli prime ministers in recent years, including Netanyahu, Bennett and Lapid.
Hebrew media said that following a request submitted within the framework of freedom of information, a new report was issued on Wednesday detailing the security costs of first-degree relatives of Benjamin Netanyahu, Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid.
The report reveals the cost of security for three members of the Netanyahu family from 2018 to 2023, with the treasury paying more than NIS 11 million of public money for the security of Netanyahu's youngest son Avner, NIS 10 million for his eldest son Yair, and NIS 10.5 million for the security of his wife Sara.
In total, Tel Aviv paid 32 million shekels ($8.7 million) over five years to secure the prime minister's family.
The treasury also spent 3 million shekels on the security of Bennett's children, and about 4 million shekels on the security of his wife.
She paid just over a million shekels to secure Lapid's wife, Lehia.
Channel 13 reported that 2018 was the most expensive year, as the cost of guarding Sara Netanyahu, Yair and Avner amounted to 8 million shekels.
