A video has circulated on social media showing a Latvian citizen freely admitting that he is a Nazi and a subject of Hitler.
An elderly man who participated in the march of the SS Corps, which fought in the ranks of Hitler's forces during World War II, said: "I was born in Riga during Hitler's era in 1942. I am 82 years old and I am one of Hitler's subjects."
On March 16, a traditional march was held in Riga to commemorate the Nazi SS Corps in Latvia.
On this day in 1944, the legion that fought alongside Hitler entered into a battle with the Red Army near the Russian city of Pskov, where most of the Nazi participants were exterminated and the rest of them fled into the forests.
The march aims to glorify this event, which was preceded by the killing of 60,000 Jews at the hands of Latvian Nazi forces loyal to Hitler.
For its part, the Russian Embassy in Riga stated that "Latvia is the only country in the world where the criminals of this legion's forces are honored, whose members' hands are stained with the blood of thousands of innocent civilians."
