A FORMER Love Island star has revealed that he earns £80k a year from doing a job that no one else wants.

Jordan Dowsett, a mining electrician, may be stuck working underground for hours on end – but it’s worth it all for the eye-watering paycheck.

The series four Love Island Australia contestant manages to work a gruelling 12-hour shift, while always finding time to hit the gym.

“It ain’t easy being at the top,” he jokes on his popular TikTok channel.

Fitness-obsessed Jordan shared a “day in the life” of his intense job – and it’s not for the fainthearted.

But Jordan has all his expenses paid at the site in Western Australia – accommodation, bills and food.

It means he can take home in one day what his friends take home in a week.

A usual day sees the reality star rise at 3am to run a 10k work before his shift starts to “get that morning cardio”.

Dressed up in his protective gear, he then hits the breakfast banquet provided for all the mine’s workers and eats a staggering “six of seven eggs”.

“Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day,” he explained in another video, as he showed off the array of options. “Fruit, yoghurt, cereal, bread, muffins, you name it, hot food, porridge, it’s all there.”

At 6.15am, his colleagues are busy stretching ready for the “long” day ahead of getting down and dirty in the huge mine.

He’s not out again until 6.30pm when Jordan appears with a huge grin and still has enough energy to hit the gym.

Jordan explained: “I jump into the gym and do an afternoon workout session before getting back to the mess to have a steak and salad dinner.”

Finally, he added: “And that is me done for the day.”

There’s no drinking on site and Jordan is in bed by 9pm – but he says the crazy hours and isolated life is all worth it for the cash.

An average entry level position for a fly-in-fly-out electrician is £35 per hour – which adds up to over £80,000 per year.

TikTokers couldn’t believe how harsh his working day was and questioned whether it was worth it.

“Damn, do you get much sleep?” one asked.

Another said: “Dunno how you function on 6 hours sleep every night”.

A third said: “Not worth it bro. It kills you slowly.”

Others were attracted by his hefty paycheck or possibly the breakfast spread.

One said: “Bro can I be part of your team please”.

“How do I get this job,” another asked.

“Man I would just go for the food,” quipped someone else.

It comes as a Brit has revealed how he makes a whopping £52,000 in after tax by working in the mines for just half the year.

Jared Deacon, a fly-in-fly-out job carpenter, loves the money but sometimes the tough job gets too much.

Meanwhile, another savvy woman has told of how she makes £10,000 a month also in the mines doing the job not many people fancy having a go at.

The hard worker, who goes by @fionafifo on TikTok, shares a glimpse of her unusual and dust-coated career and tips on how to succeed in her male-dominated industry.
