Taking to TikTok to announce the discovery, Carly said the “old” house her gran had moved into was previously owned by an “end of day prepper”.

The term is used to describe someone who effectively prepares themselves for doomsday – most notably building elaborate bunkers deep underground.

And that’s exactly what the previous owner had done, with Carly explaining it “truly the best part” of the house.

During the three-and-a-half minute clip, she shows that what appears to be a wall of panels is, in fact, a secret door.

Upon opening the door, the old and rustic entrance to the bunker appears.

After climbing inside, Carly explains that the door has a latch to lock yourself in with, before proceeding to show the rest of the bunker that appears to be split across two sections.

The first part contains three bunks beds, as well as gas masks.

The second section features what appears to be a bench or sofa bed of some kind, and a well pump with water.

Carly explains that when the house was bought, the bunker was “full of canned food storage”.

At 5ft3in, she also reveals just how low the ceiling is inside the bunker as she struggles to stand upright.

As well as a leftover mug in the well pump, Carly also finds a collection of vintage candles that will have been used as an alternative to lights.

The former homeowner had also built a secret storage space for canned foods and weapons away from the bunker.

Furthermore, there was a side-in hatch built into the wall that could be accessed from outside the house.

Following the fascinating reveal, more than 7,000 comments were registered on the social media post from perplexed viewers.

One person said: “This house is a TREASURE.”

A second added: “You know what a score that is in today’s society? Score.”

A third commented: “U stumbled on a GEM..ESPECIALLY IN TODAY’S WORLD!”

Elsewhere, a man who owns a secret nuclear bunker has said that people have offered him £30,000 for a space in case of World War Three.

Mike Parrish, 76, is all set for a long stint in the bunker in the event of a catastrophic nuclear fallout between global powers.

And an ultra-luxury cave bunker that has undergone a £800,000 renovation is now open to people seeking to survive the apocalypse or just a family holiday.

Bunkers seem to be all the rage, especially among billionaires, but for those who can’t afford their own underground home, there is an ultimate solution.
