A REAL-LIFE ghostbuster and his team of paranormal investigators have revealed some of their most terrifying cases – including the “Annabelle of India”.
The Parapsychology and Investigations Research Society (PAIRS) based in India is known for carrying out spine-tingling studies in haunted locations.

Its founder Sarbajeet Mohanty – a certified demonologist – started the group to search for things that go beyond the realm of the mortal world.
He joined with Pooja Vijay, one of India’s famous psychics who claims to have the special ability to supernaturally perceive past events – and connect to spirits on an emotional level.
The pair and their crew have solved some of the most mind-bending cases of paranormal activities and have “communicated with evil spirits”.
Along the way, they claimed to have collected some terrifying shreds of evidence for the sceptics.
Of the many cases that Sarbajeet and his highly-trained pals have cracked, one remains on the top of their list – the “Annabelle of India”
A pink doll that is said to be possessed by the vengeful spirit of a murdered woman.
The case involved a grandmother and her grandchildren who frequently experienced paranormal sightings at their home.
They complained of seeing a woman wearing a red dress who would often jump off their terrace, but would then vanish into thin air.
The family had been led to believe that the ghost was that of a woman who had been choked by one of her relatives.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun, Sarbajeet said: “We showed the pictures of the place [to the psychic] who said she was getting a choking feeling and was seeing ropes.
“When we finally reached the house, just as we entered one of the rooms, we saw a pink cotton doll, which I like to call the Annabelle of India.”
But he claims that mysterious things started to happen when he picked up the doll in an attempt to provoke the spirit.
He added: “It was a cotton doll with no batteries, but the EMF sensor started blinking when I took it towards it, something that would never normally happens.”
We saw [crew member’s] leg being pulled by something unseen and noticed five dark finger marks on his leg. This is the kind of evidence we live for
Sarbajeet Mohanty“Suddenly, one of my crew members fell to the ground and started feeling choked.
“That’s when a second member who was handling the camera suddenly started shouting for help.
“We saw his leg being pulled by something unseen and noticed five dark finger marks on his leg.
“This is the kind of evidence we live for, so it felt amazing having collected so much of it.”
Sarbajeet says he and his team had a close encounter with what they claim was the spirit of the murdered lady.
He said: “The lady haunting the place had been choked and killed, so she probably didn’t even realise that she was seeking revenge.
“We had to let them know it was not their place [to do so].”
INDIA’S MOST HAUNTED HOUSE
The expert says that digging into the history of a property with proper research is very important to carry out a paranormal investigation.
According to the demonologist, most cases are not supernatural – and can be debunked using pure science.
Sarbajeet said: “It is extremely important to know the circumstances as most of the time there is not any haunting in the places – but just our minds playing games with us.”
The best way to cleanse a haunted place is to make the spirit realise they’re dead
Sarbajeet Mohanty“It’s necessary to find out all scientific and logical explanations for the thing, and when everything is ruled out, then we consider the paranormal aspect.”
The paranormal investigator believes the job is not just to catch spirits, but to also debunk any theories and false stories that go around in a haunted place.
In 2019, the group visited what is called India’s most haunted residential place – the abandoned De Mello house in Goa.
Stories suggest that the house has been haunted by the evil spirit of a Portuguese man named De Mello who killed his brother out of spite – and later took his own life.
When Sarbajeet and his team heard the story, they decided to go and investigate the once-lavish property to dig out the truth.
They used a spirit box to communicate with the ghost, hoping to hear back from a male entity.
However, shocking psychic readings revealed the presence of a feminine entity cursing the house.
After communicating with the spirit, Sarbajeet and his team concluded the spirit was of a young girl who was brutally assaulted and murdered in the house.
The presence, according to the ghosty experts, feared what “lay ahead” so she refused to leave and became stuck in the house.
“The case was never about the De Mello brothers, there was a girl in that same family who was tortured and killed,” added Sarbajeet.
“She was the one haunting the entire house.”
Sarbajeet and his team of ghostbusters use high-tech gadgets to carry out their search as they help to provide evidence for sceptics.
He said: “We have become experts in these fields and with the help of our psychic, we know if a place is haunted.
“The gadgets help us to make our clients and other sceptics believe in what we do.”
One of the most used gadgets in his bag is the electromagnetic field (EMF) sensor, which Sarbajeet says picks up on the presence of a spirit – as long as there are no other interruptions of live electric wires.
Another instrument in their lot is the “electronic voice phenomenon” EVP recorder that can detect ultrasonic and infrasonic sounds inaudible to human ears.
When there is what Sarbajeet calls an intelligent haunting – where the expert feels there could be something beyond plain scientific explanations – he and his team prepare themselves to conduct a thorough investigation.
Once the presence of a spirit is realised and proven, their team do what they call “deep cleaning” of the place.
“The best way they do this is to make the spirit realise they’re dead,” Sarbajeet said.
“Sometimes, these spirits end up in our world and don’t even realise it, so just telling them that they don’t belong here usually works in the cleansing process.”
“We just speak to the entity as if we’re speaking to the person – they were living at some point. They’re stuck in this realm.”
