A BACKPACKER travelling in Australia has made £30,000 in four months working a job that most people avoid.

The expat listed free accommodation and unlimited food as one of the many perks of the mining on a fly-in-fly-out role.

He shared his experience on his TikTok account named PaulOnSite, and garnered 1,6 million views.

Paul bragged about the benefits he enjoys on the job such as free flights, provided accommodation and unlimited food.

He also said that he has saved over £15,000 after working for only four months.

Now Paul promotes his lifestyle online, urging people to join the industry.

He told his viewers to follow his suit and get a job as a trade assistant in shutdowns.

Shutdowns refer to worksites that are closed for upgrades and maintenance.

The Tiktoker promises that people can earn up to £2,600 a week without any experience.

According to the video, FIFO utility workers get paid from £18 to £21 an hour.

And trade assistants can make anywhere from £22 to £29 per hour.

But the job comes with its challenges too, as it requires long hours.

An average shift lasts about 12 hours a day, and FIFO means you’ll spend anywhere from one to four weeks working without time off.

It also includes hard physical labour, and in some cases working in confided spaces or at heights.

One online user frankly said: ” I’ve done it for 10 years, the most miserable life you can have.”

FIFO workers get compensated generously with an average salary of £57,360.

Entry-level positions start at £47,287 per year, while most experienced workers earn up to £84,336 per year.

But some users warn that this may be the amount earned before tax.

One commented: “Tax will take half of that or just under!!!”

Income tax in the country amounts to 32,5 per cent for anyone making over £9,590 a year.

However, Paul admitted he pays little tax on what he makes thanks to Holiday Working Visa.

Any holiday worker earning below £23,000 only pays 15 per cent of their earnings to the government.

Another mine worker revealed how he surpassed that amount in just four months, making a bank and splashing cash on his weeks off.

Cal Mcllwaine is a new starter but was already able to make someone’s yearly salary in just four months.

Similarly, a bodybuilder who only has to work half the year disclosed the dangerous job that allows him to rake in £8,000 a month.
