Technology-focused websites reported that iPhones will get an important feature that could save many lives in emergency situations.
According to the available information, the iOS 18 systems that iPhones will get will provide users with a feature called Emergency SOS Live Video, through which users will be able to communicate via video when requesting help in emergency situations, and this feature is supposed to be activated first for Apple device users in Canada and the United States.
Thanks to the new feature, the phone owner will be able to communicate via video when requesting help by calling 911. This will enable rescuers to better assess the situation and provide advice to the person until help arrives. This will be more effective than making voice calls or sending messages via the SOS service currently provided by iOS systems.
It is worth noting that Apple had previously added many features related to user security to its devices, such as the Crash Detection feature introduced in the iPhone 14 phones, through which the phone automatically requests help in the event that the user is involved in a serious traffic accident, in addition to the SOS feature that allowed sending messages and location coordinates to rescuers via satellites, if the phone is out of cellular network coverage.
