Iran requests Israel's expulsion from the UN Women's Committee due to the killing of thousands of Palestinian women in Gaza

On the anniversary of International Women's Day, the representative office of the Republic of Iran at the United Nations called for Israel's expulsion from the organization's Women's Committee, noting that about 9,000 Palestinian women were killed in Israel's attack on Gaza.

The Iranian representation’s demand came in a statement, noting “the martyrdom of more than 9,000 Palestinian women as a result of war crimes committed by the Zionist entity in the Gaza Strip,” according to the statement.

The Iranian representation statement said, “On International Women’s Day, today, Friday, March 8, empowering women and promoting their rights requires addressing injustice.”

She added: "More than 9,000 Palestinian women were martyred at the hands of the Zionist entity amid the inaction of the UN Security Council. The occupancy of United Nations seats by the Zionist occupation entity must be prevented."

In a related context, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip reported earlier today, Friday, that about 31,000 were killed, including more than 9,000 women, and more than 72,000 were injured in the Gaza Strip as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression since October 7.

She confirmed that "the toll of the Israeli aggression has risen to 30,878 martyrs and 72,402 injuries since last October 7," noting that 72% of the victims are children and women.
