Iranians mourning Imam Hussein’s martyrdom on Tasua

Millions of mourners in Iran are taking part in nationwide processions of Tasua, the ninth day of Muharram on the Islamic lunar calendar, one day before the third Shia Imam, Hussein ibn Ali, and 72 of his companions were martyred on the plains of Karbala, in today’s Iraq, over 13 centuries ago.
