  • Stephen Mollah’s unverified claims as Satoshi fail to convince, adding to Bitcoin’s founder mystery.
  • Skepticism persists as the true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto remains elusive.

In a previous CNF update, Len Sassaman emerged as a potential candidate for the pseudonymous Satoshi Nakamoto, with an upcoming HBO documentary expected to explore this theory. However, at a highly publicized press conference on October 31, the anniversary of Bitcoin’s whitepaper, Stephen Mollah claimed to be the elusive Satoshi.

Mollah’s announcement at London’s Frontline Club quickly drew skepticism due to his inability to provide proof and questionable statements. BBC News cyber correspondent Joe Tidy attended and reported mounting doubts, noting that Mollah’s claims lacked credibility from the outset. Confusion over the venue’s affiliation and a shaky presentation only deepened the doubts surrounding Mollah’s identity.

Venue and Verifiability Issues

The event, organized by London Live, was held at the Frontline Club, though the venue later distanced itself from the press conference, stating no official connection. Mollah’s bold assertions—such as inventing energy recovery technology and creating the popular show “Britain’s Got Talent”—raised further suspicions, especially given his lack of evidence.

A planned demonstration to verify his identity as Satoshi encountered technical problems, and Mollah instead shared unverifiable stories, including a previous interview attempt in 2016. These elements only served to discredit his claim, with some journalists leaving the event before it concluded.

Empty Promises and a Lingering Mystery

When pressed for concrete evidence, such as cryptographic signatures or movement of bitcoins from the Genesis block, Mollah could only show vague screenshots, promising verifiable proof in the future. This underwhelming reveal left the audience unconvinced, turning what was meant to be a historic unveiling into yet another unsubstantiated claim.

With Satoshi Nakamoto’s identity still unknown, the mystery of Bitcoin’s creator remains unsolved, casting doubt on whether it will ever be fully uncovered. Regarding Bitcoin (BTC) price, at the time of writing, BTC is priced at $69,501.69, reflecting a 3.96% decline in the past day but a 2.39% increase over the past week.
