ISIS claims responsibility for 'mosque attack' in Oman

The terrorist organization ISIS claimed responsibility on Tuesday for the attack on a mosque in the Sultanate of Oman, which resulted in the death of nine people, including a policeman and three attackers, and the injury of more than 28 others.

"ISIS" said in a statement, "Three ISIS suicide bombers attacked a gathering of Shiites on Monday night while they were performing their annual rituals at their temple in the Wadi al-Kabir area of ​​the capital."

He added, "The attack resulted in the killing and wounding of more than 30 Shiites and five Omani forces, including a police officer."

The incident resulted, according to the Oman News Agency, in "the death of five people, the killing of one policeman, the killing of the three perpetrators, in addition to the injury of 28 people of different nationalities, including 4 people while performing their national duty from the police and members of the Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority, who were transferred to health institutions to receive treatment. Investigations, searches and investigations into the circumstances of the incident are continuing."

The Omani police stressed the "necessity of obtaining information from official sources and not paying attention to information issued by unreliable sources."
