ISRAELI forces has surrounded the home of Yahya Sinwar where they’re told he could be hiding.
The Hamas chief has been dubbed “Gaza’s Bin Laden” for his horrific role in the kidnapping and killing of thousands in the October 7 attacks and has long been a priority for Israel to hunt down.
The IDF have been seen circling parts of southern Gaza and Khan Younis after multiple trusted officials have given their assurances that the tyrant leader is hiding in his home there.
Sinwar, 61, is believed to be at number five street in northwest Khan Younis, according to reports, and the IDF have the traditional house completely surrounded.
The news of Sinwar’s potential location came from IDF Chief-of-staff Herzi Halevi who hinted at the man’s whereabouts earlier this week.
Halevi said: “We are attacking (Hamas) centre of gravity.
“We are asked frequently about the destruction in Gaza – Hamas is the address. Sinwar is the address.”
However the home they’ve encircled is just one of many that Sinwar reportedly owns as his exact whereabouts are still unknown.
Israel has called the disgraced leader “a dead man walking.”
Israel military also believe that many other top Hamas officials and several of the hostages left are hiding in Khan Younis – the largest city in southern Gaza.
Sinwar spent 22 years in an Israeli prison for terrorism, murder and kidnap plots and spent every second honing his burning hatred for his captors as he masterminded the October 7 massacre.
But Israel’s military chiefs vowed that their renewed offensive must not end until he is dead as details of his twisted psyche were laid bare.
His astonishing rise to the top of the Hamas terror tree came despite being sentenced to four life sentences in 1989 for planning the abduction and killing of two Israeli soldiers and the murder of four Palestinians he suspected of working with Israel.
Thousands of civilians fled in panic from Khan Younis on Monday December 4, as fierce fighting erupted as dozens of Israeli tanks roared into southern Gaza.
In what some are calling the final showdown with Hamas, an onslaught supported by Israeli warplanes and artillery was kicking off.
Hamas Qassam Brigades announced soon after the attack began that it had fought against five tanks and five personnel carriers with Al-Yassin 105 missiles.
A number of Israeli casualties and a string of civilian deaths were recorded as the Jewish state’s Operation Swords of Iron entered its most critical phase.
Armoured bulldozers were also seen smashing their way through defensive barriers as the war in the south gathered pace.
The IDF said it blasted 200 targets in one night across Gaza – with dramatic footage showing pinpoint attacks and gun-wielding soldiers on foot and armoured vehicles pushing south.
The Israeli Defence Force said residents of Khan Yunis had been addressed in Arabic calling on them to evacuate the war zone.
The message said: “Dear residents of the Gaza Strip, the IDF has renewed its vigorous action against Hamas and other terrorist organisations in the Gaza Strip.
“In order to maintain your safety and security: To the residents of the neighbourhoods of Al-Mahta, Al-Katibah, Hamad, Al-Satar, Bnei Suhila.
“For your safety, we invite you to move to the known displaced persons’ shelters in the neighbourhoods of Al-Fukhari, Al-Shaboura, Al-Zuhur and Tal Al-Sultan”
There are still believed to be many hostages in the area, meaning IDF troops are expecting a “final standoff”, Richard Pater, Director of British Israel Communications and Research Centre (BICOM) told Sun Online.
But the devastation won’t end for months, even if all leaders are found, because the area is expected to be heavily booby-trapped, he added.
Head of the IDF Southern Command, Maj. Gen. Yaron Finkelman posted on X/Twitter: “We are in the heart of Jabaliya, in the heart of Shejaiya and starting last night, also in the heart of Khan Younis.
“This is the most intense day [of battles] since the start of the (ground) maneuver, in terms of terrorists killed, the number of engagements and the use of fire from the ground and the air.
“We plan to continue attacking to deepen achievements.”
Footage of the conflict shared online shows heavily-armed IDF soldiers marching through rubble and into bombed-out buildings.
Machine guns are fired into open windows, in front of distant bomb blasts.
