Jakarta - Indonesian men's singles player Jonatan Christie's progress in the BWF Super 750 India Open tournament had to stop in the semifinals after being eliminated by Danish badminton player Viktor Axelsen in New Delhi, early Sunday WIB.

Jonatan suffered defeat to the two-time Olympic gold medalist through a fierce rubber game drama with a score of 21-17, 14-21, 15-21.

The first game started with Axelsen who appeared quite dominant. After the first game interval was won by Axelsen 11-7, Jonatan who came down as the second seed in this tournament slowly began to give a fierce fight until he equalized the score 13-13 and 17-17.

Armed with that confidence, Jonatan was able to ward off pressure at critical points and win the first game with a score of 21-17.
