The award for this weekend's craziest Republican story goes to the Michigan GOP for the chaos involving their attempt to oust the chair of their party, election denier, Trump support and MAGA darling, Kristina Karamo.
Apparently there is some major internal strife going on, which led to the Michigan Republican Party's state committee to call a Saturday meeting to consider a vote to remove Kristina Karamo as chair of the state party.
Karamo is a huge supporter of Donald Trump, which pleases her party. But she has been under fire for major financial and organizational issues, leadership problems and overall incomptence.
For those that remember Karamo from a different election, you are right! She ran - and lost - when she ran for Michigan Secretary of State in 2022. After her loss, she was elected chair of the state party in February 2023 for a two year term.
Prior to the Saturday vote, her co-chair, Melinda Pego, joined calls to remove her. Eight of the 13 district chairs also reportedly want Karamo out as well.
The vote was held on Saturday and she was indeed voted out, but she is refusing to leave, claiming it was an "illegal plot" and refuses to acknowledge it. Sound familiar?
