An opinion poll conducted by the IFOP Institute (Institute of Public Opinion) revealed a decline in the popularity of French President Emmanuel Macron after his series of statements about the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine.
According to the results of the opinion poll, Macron's approach does not enjoy unanimous support among the French, especially with regard to "primarily related to Ukraine and the issue of sending forces there."
According to the results of the poll, Macron is satisfied with 28% of the French, and 72% dissatisfied.
It should be noted that such numbers are the lowest since 2013, when the country's 24th president, François Hollande, planned to intervene in the Syrian crisis.
In rejection of Macron's statements, several thousand participated in a protest demonstration , yesterday, Saturday, that took place in the streets of central Paris, against the supply of weapons to Kiev and the sending of forces from Western armies to Ukraine.
At the end of last February, French President Emmanuel Macron said that Paris would do everything in its power to prevent Russia “from winning this war.”
Later, Macron, who was sharply criticized for these remarks, noted that his statements were carefully considered, adding that Paris had no “ borders and red lines ” on the issue of supporting Kiev.
Commenting on Macron's words about sending forces to Ukraine, the Kremlin said that such a development of events would inevitably lead to a direct military clash between Russia and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
