India : After the arrival of the Modi government, questions have been raised on the roles of the media for a long time. The media has been called the fourth pillar of democracy and it has a great responsibility in the democratic constitution. It must be questioned whether he has neglected his duty. In the recent case, former Supreme Court Justice Corin Joseph targeted the media saying that it has failed to protect democracy, constitution and truth.

According to media reports, Justice (retired) Joseph said that no one gets the bold and true version of the facts and the biggest blow to democracy is that the fourth pillar has made the country vulnerable to degradation.

Addressing a seminar organized by the Center for Accountability and Reforms (CJAR) yesterday, he said, 'Before the conference, we discussed many things, but whatever we discussed, what did we do? We read them in any media, do we read them digitally? Barring some private institutions, do we see it in any electronic media?

According to The Wire, he called for the protection of whistleblowers, calling them the 'fifth pillar'. Justice Joseph said, 'We do not find a bold, true version of the facts that have emerged. The biggest blow to democracy is that the fourth pillar has let the country down. Forget the first three pillars. The fourth pillar is the media and it has failed to protect democracy - it has failed to protect the constitution. He has failed to defend the truth.
