Mike Tyson faces Jake Paul in an official professional fight

The upcoming fight between boxing legend Mike Tyson and one of the YouTube celebrities, American boxer Jake Paul, will take place next July 20, within the framework of a professional fight classified in the heavyweight category.

The fight will consist of eight rounds, each round lasting two minutes, and its result will be counted in the records of both Paul and Tyson, whose last official loss dates back to 2005.

Tyson (57 years old), the former American world boxing champion (50 wins, including 44 by knockout and 6 losses), has not won any fight since his victory over Clifford Etienne in 2003.

Paul wrote on his account via “X”: “Mike Tyson wanted the fight to be professional. Netflix wanted the fight to be professional. So I agreed for it to be so. The winner takes all.”

The fight will be held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, home of the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.

Nakisa Bedarian, one of the fight's promoters on "X", said: "Mike Tyson and Jake Paul signed to fight each other with their desire for the fight to be officially professional."

He added, "We have worked with our partners over the past six weeks to meet the requirements of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations to make the match official."

Tyson, nicknamed "Iron Man," won the world heavyweight champion title for the first time in 1986 and retained the title from 1987 to 1990, about 10 years before the birth of YouTuber Paul, who is currently 27 years old.
After his great loss to James “Buster” Douglas in 1990 in Tokyo, Tyson returned to the world championship in 1996, but lost the final to Evander Holyfield.

On the other hand, Paul has 9 wins, including 6 by knockout and one loss, and his last win dates back to last month when he defeated Ryan Borland after 2 minutes and 37 seconds in the first round.

Paul's only loss came against Britain's Tommy Furie in February 2023 in Saudi Arabia.
