They had discovered the suspect, not named by police, had been sending sexual messages to the minor for five days.
Outraged by the situation family members decided to try and catch the man red-handed.
They decided to use the girl as bait.
The clip shows the man arrive at the scene and try to hug the girl 50 years his junior, only for her to reach out for a handshake.
The girl then backs up against a wall with the man standing right in front of her.
After a few seconds, the woman’s mum and a man run over and shove the creep against the wall.
The girl’s mother grabbed him by the neck and yelled: “Rapist, son of a rat’s disease! You’re a rapist!” (sic)
The man throws a punch, hitting the creep in the head.
While grappling with the man several more jabs are thrown by the family members.
Another man, who according to the police is the girl’s uncle, grabbed him and punched the pervert.
Locals who were nearby also joined the confrontation, with many verbally and physically attacking the man.
The man tried to seek refuge in one of the vans parked nearby but was prevented from doing so by the teenager’s family, who continued to attack him.
Police eventually arrived and prevented the situation from escalating further.
They arrested the man and he was charged with sexual harassment.
He was released following a custody hearing at the Court of Justice of Alagoas on 8th August.
The case is being monitored by the Arapiraca Child Protection Council, which has assured that the teenager will receive the necessary psychological support to deal with the trauma.
In addition, the city government issued a statement reinforcing the importance of reporting any suspicious behaviour involving minors.
