It is said that after the military council sent a three-time warning letter to demolish the houses built by encroachers on the west side of the city, Anawrahta Industrial Zone Section (2) on Sampael Road, not only the houses on Sampael Road, but also the homes of Kyunkyi Village were destroyed with excavators.
A resident, who did not want to be named for security reasons, told RFA that in addition to the houses in the village, the Buddha statue in the village was destroyed.
"Suddenly broke into Jasmine Road first. At first, they said that they would only delete the one on Jasmine Road. Once those were destroyed, all the houses in the village and the sixty-year-old Buddha statue were also destroyed."
Residents said that currently nearly two thousand people have been displaced and are suffering.
Regarding this situation, RFA contacted the Office of the Attorney General of the Yangon Regional Spokesperson of the Military Council by telephone, but there was no response.
