The Deputy Mayor of Moscow, Anastasia Rakova, announced that doctors in the Russian capital will adopt new robots that use artificial intelligence technologies to perform surgical operations.
Regarding the topic, Rakova said: “Clinical Hospital No. 13 in Moscow will soon begin performing joint replacement operations using a new robot equipped with artificial intelligence technologies.”
She added: "The new robot that the hospital has equipped is designed to perform total knee joint replacement operations. This robot creates a customized surgical plan based on a three-dimensional model of the joint created using computed tomography."
She pointed out that the use of the new robot will allow the precise installation of joint implants, and will reduce the risk of complications after surgical operations, which will ensure comfortable and long-term use of the artificial joint for people who will undergo this type of operation.
According to Rakova, Moscow has greatly expanded its reliance on robots in the past five years to perform surgical operations, such as neurosurgery and urology.
