Moved on ‘with nowhere to go’: California’s crackdown on homelessness

Since June last year, a law passed by San Diego’s Democrat-run city council has given police the power to force homeless people out of many parts of the city, even if there are no shelters available for them to go to. Critics say the strategy does nothing to tackle California’s homelessness crisis, only moves the problem elsewhere. Nevertheless, a statewide version of the law could soon be introduced.
