Diana noticed that her son was being electrocuted by the wiring and tried to save him but was electrocuted as well, according to the police.

The teacher and her young son were pronounced dead at the scene.

Firefighters were called to their home in Timon’s Formosa neighbourhood but Diana and Pietro’s bodies had already been removed by emergency services.

They were sent to the local morgue in a bid to establish the exact causes and circumstances of their deaths.

The local police said: “The extension cord came into contact with an iron railing in the house, which was electrified by a bare wire.

“The child touched the railing and was shocked.”

The investigation is ongoing.

In December, another young boy also tragically died from electrocution while putting up Christmas lights.

The lifeless body of Augusto Dalmaz Bonato, 10, was found beside the decorations at his family home in Campo Largo, Brazil.

His parents called the emergency services while his devastated sister, Carolina Dalmaz, tried to revive him.

Paramedics quickly arrived at the house and gave the boy first aid before taking him to a hospital.

He died in the ICU shortly after.

It came after a pregnant teenager was electrocuted to death when she tried to charge her phone after taking a bath.

Jennifer Karolayne, 17, and her unborn child both died in the tragic incident at her home in Paraiba, Brazil.

Emergency services rushed to the scene in the city of Campina Grande after the victim’s husband raid the alarm.

But when paramedics arrived at their home in the early hours of August 17, Jennifer was already dead.

Her husband, who was not named, said he heard an “unusually loud noise” and a scream before finding her unresponsive on the ground.
