On Wednesday, Myanmar's ruling junta reportedly prolonged a state of emergency in the strife-ridden country for an additional six months, as per military-controlled media. Having seized power through a coup three years ago, the military has consistently extended emergency rule. Reports indicated that the National Defence and Security Council of the country discussed the "current situation" in Myanmar, with unanimous support from all members for the extension of the state of emergency.
