Lucy Law, the last person to speak to Jay, said she tracked down the two people who saw him just an hour before he disappeared.
Jay Slater, 19, vanished in Tenerife on Monday[/caption]Visiting the island for a festival, Jay, 19, left a rave on Sunday night with two people he had just met and was driven back to their accommodation.
The next morning he called Lucy to tell her his phone was about to die and he was stranded in the middle of nowhere.
He was reported missing an hour later, prompting a huge four-day search effort to track down the teen.
Around 15 family and friends have flown out to help – with cops, firefighters, sniffer dogs, drones and helicopters all scouring the hills where he was last seen.
Jay’s panicked loved ones have had to wade through a barrage of sick messages from trolls claiming to have kidnapped the teen.
It comes as…
- Jay, 19, was first reported missing on Monday after vanishing on his way home from a rave the night before
- Mum Debbie was told by cops at 2am on Tuesday to catch the first flight to Tenerife
- A Coronation Street star with a connection to Jay’s family published an appeal for help to find him
- Jay’s posted a Snapchat the night before he vanished showing him smiling with friends
- His friend Lucy described the teen’s disappearance as “suspicious and weird” as cops vowed to keep an “open mind”
- Jay’s mum was sent a message saying “kiss goodbye to your son” amid family fears he’s been kidnapped
- She gave a tearful plea last night and said “I just want my baby back”
- His family have endured days of bogus theories and sick messages from trolls
- Cops searched the teen’s hotel room in Tenerife for clues on Wednesday
Lucy told Sky on Wednesday how those searching for Jay on the island managed to track down the exact place he stayed on Sunday night.
She said: “We managed to find the house. I knocked on the door and there were two people there.”
The mystery pair told Lucy that he had gone out to buy cigarettes before returning to their apartment.
Once he got back he told them he wanted to go home to his accommodation.
Lucy said: “They told me he’d spoken to the next door neighbours and they’d told him there was a bus every 10 minutes back down to Los Cristianos.
“The bus stop was right next to the house.
“So obviously if he’d gone to get the bus he wouldn’t have got lost because it [the stop] was visible from the front door.”
MUM’S HEARTBREAKING PLEA
Worried mum Debbie Duncan said the past few days have been a “living nightmare” as she issued a tearful plea for help.
She told ITN last night: “It’s just an absolute living nightmare. It’s like a dream – it’s like it’s not happening, it really is. I wouldn’t wish this on anybody.
“I just want my baby back. Please, just anybody who can help just look for him. There’s a massive area up there, massive.
“It’s over 48 hours now since he last had any contact with anybody.
“He’s out there somewhere, or somebody knows where he is. We just need to find my baby.”
Devastated mum Debbie flew to the island on Tuesday as rescue crews stage a frantic round-the-clock search for Jay.
COPS SEARCHING HOTEL
Cops scoured the teen’s hotel room in the tourist resort of Los Cristianos on Wednesday, where his distraught mum Debbie Duncan is waiting for news.
Jay was sharing the room at a three-star apartment complex after flying out with pals Brad and Lucy Law to go to Tenerife’s NGR festival.
Police, who promised to keep an “open mind” about his disappearance yesterday, have scanned his accommodation for clues.
But Jay’s stricken mum Debbie said there was “nothing untoward there”.
She explained: “Police have been into Jay’s room today. I’ve been in his room as well.
“But everything of Jay’s was neatly hung up, it’s just a normal room and there’s nothing untoward there.”
After scouring his room with cops she said: “His passport was there along with all his euros which I’ve got now.
“I’m not sure he had any money on him when he made that last call to his friend Lucy on Monday morning before he vanished.
“I haven’t slept since all this began and I’ve no plans to go up to the search site right now.
“I just want to be here for if he does turn up but I’ve got a bad feeling. I’m being warned there’s a lot of bad people in Tenerife.”
