The Coalition to Eliminate Cluster Munitions in the United States called on US authorities to stop using and supplying these munitions to its allies, and condemned the decisions of President Joe Biden's administration to supply them to Ukraine.
This came in a statement issued by the organization on Monday, condemning Lithuania's decision to withdraw from the Convention on Cluster Munitions, in which the "coalition" called on the Lithuanian authorities to reverse this decision.
The statement added: "We again call on the United States to stop the use, supply and stockpiling of cluster munitions, and to join the Convention on Cluster Munitions quickly and urge its partners and allies to do the same."
The organization also said: “We renew our condemnation of the Biden administration’s multiple supplies of cluster munitions to Ukraine.”
The organization had previously published a report, indicating that US President Joe Biden had approved the supply of 5 shipments of cluster munitions to Ukraine during the period between July 2023 and April 2024.
