North Jakarta Immigration is intensifying surveillance of foreigners during Ramadan

Jakarta - The North Jakarta TPI Class I Immigration Office is intensifying supervision of foreigners to prevent immigration violations in the area during Ramadan 1445 Hijriah.

"Supervision continues to be carried out independently and the sources of information obtained can vary," said Head of the Intelligence and Enforcement Section of the North Jakarta TPI Class I Immigration Office, Bong Bong Prakoso Napitupulu in Jakarta, Wednesday.

He said that sources of information on the whereabouts of foreign nationals suspected of committing violations could be obtained from public complaints, data collection through
immigration data or conducting "random checks".

Apart from that, coordination with the Foreigners Supervision Team (TIM PORA) continues to be carried out in supervising foreigners according to their respective duties and functions. "The PORA TEAM also holds meetings or operational activities once every quarter," he said.

He ensured that monitoring of the whereabouts of foreigners continued and that if there were allegations of violations, action would be taken according to applicable regulations.

The North Jakarta TPI Class I Immigration Office throughout February 2024 issued a number of residence permits for foreign citizens in the area, namely 292 limited residence permits, 209 visit residence permits and 19 permanent residence permits.

The North Jakarta TPI Class I Immigration Office has arrested eight citizens from Nigeria who are suspected of violating their residence permit period (overstay) in apartments in the Pademangan area on Thursday (22/2) and Kelapa Gading on Saturday (24/2).

The eight citizens from Nigeria are IGM, CON, OAN, COA, URC, OIP, EZC and BM. They committed various violations ranging from "overstaying" for eight months to six years and five of them were unable to show travel documents or passports.

Based on checking through the immigration database (SIMKIM), it was recorded that the eight foreign nationals had stayed in Indonesia beyond the time limit of the residence permit granted.

Four of them were illegal residents (Illegal stay) because their passports had also expired.
