Northern Iraq region reveals PKK terrorist organization's involvement in attack on local party official

The government of the northern Iraqi region revealed yesterday, Tuesday, that the terrorist organization PKK is behind the targeting of a KDP official in the Kalar area of ​​Sulaymaniyah Governorate, stressing that it is endangering the future of the region, and that its operations "will not pass without accountability."

The Counter-Terrorism Service in northern Iraq stated in a post on Facebook that PKK terrorists have targeted many civilians and members of the security forces over the past three years, and have attempted to carry out several assassinations, and explained that the organization is behind the targeting of the KDP official in Kalar, Akram Salih, on Monday.

The agency confirmed that the terrorist organization also burned public markets and shops in the area, causing harm to citizens. The statement stressed that it is endangering the future of the region, and that its operations "will not go unpunished without accountability," noting that it also trades in drugs and promotes them internationally.

Meanwhile, the Iraqi Islamic Party called on Baghdad to work together with Turkey against the terrorist organization PKK, expressing in a statement its concern over the growing terrorist activities of the organization on Iraqi territory, and at the same time stressing that the presence of the organization and its terrorist acts targeting neighboring Turkey thwart efforts to develop relations with it on the political and economic levels.

Turkey is carrying out operations to combat the terrorist organization PKK, which targets its forces and citizens and is active in countries in the region, including Syria, Iraq and Iran. The organization has a stronghold in the Qandil Mountains in northern Iraq and is active in many cities, regions and valleys, launching attacks on the Turkish interior from there.
