Norway hands the Palestinian Prime Minister its recognition papers for the State of Palestine

Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide handed over to Palestinian Prime Minister Muhammad Mustafa the papers of Norway's recognition of the State of Palestine.

“Recognition means a lot to us,” Mustafa said. “This is the most important thing anyone can do for the Palestinian people. It is a great thing for us.”

Mustafa will also meet with European Union foreign ministers and high-level EU officials on Monday to mobilize support for the Palestinians. 

About 140 countries recognize the Palestinian state, but the majority of the 27 European Union countries have not yet recognized it.

Many of them said that they would recognize Palestine when conditions were right .
