The richest man in the world, Elon Musk, shrugged off the loss of a $100 million deal on Monday with a two-word response: "Oh well."

Musk posted the retort on his social media platform X following news that Ontario Premier Doug Ford was scrapping the province's deal with Starlink just hours before a 25% tariff on Canadian goods was due to go into effect.

The province partnered with Musk's satellite company in November with a goal of bringing "high-speed internet to thousands of homes in remote and rural communities across Ontario," CTV News reported.

But Ford announced Monday that the deal was null and void.

“That’s just one step, and there’s many more coming,” Ford said. “You know, that’s a small, small drop in the bucket, the $100 million. It sends a message to President Trump, but there’s many more.”

Ford added that Ontario would not do business with “people hellbent on destroying” the provincial economy.

“President Trump is the only person to be blamed. Maybe Elon Musk can call his buddy. This is one of the ramifications,” Ford said.

On Saturday, Trump imposed the huge trade tariff on Canada, citing a "drug war" that was allowing fentanyl into the United States.

After Trump's action, Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau imposed a retaliatory 25% tariff on U.S. goods. Trudeau was expected to hold a phone call with Trump Monday afternoon.

Musk's two-word post didn't give any indication that Starlink would sue for breach of contract, but Ford said he's ready if Musk takes legal action.

“We didn’t break the rules of our agreement, the USMCA (United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement) deal, they did. I never believe in starting a fight, but I believe in winning the fight,” Ford said.
