A 25-year-old woman has succumbed to her wounds after being assaulted in the city of Beersheba
At least one person has died and several others are injured following a terrorist attack in the southern Israeli city of Beersheba, local authorities have said.
In a post on X on Sunday, the Israeli police confirmed receiving a report about a suspected shooting at the central bus station, adding that “the terrorist had been neutralized,” without providing further details.
Magen David Adom, Israel’s medical service, initially said that a total of nine people were injured in the attack, and that the culprit was shot dead on the spot. The Times of Israel later reported the service as saying that one victim, a 25-year-old woman who had been in critical condition, had succumbed to her wounds.

Ynet described the perpetrator as a member of the Bedouin community in the Negev region, adding that he had a criminal record.
Graphic footage of the incident shows scenes of chaos, with an armed woman, apparently a security guard, pointing a gun at what appears to be a male lying in a pool of blood. Other clips from the scene show another body lying nearby on a bloodstained floor.
The attack comes amid the latest escalation between Israel and Hezbollah, including the assassination of the group’s longtime leader Hassan Nasrallah, who was revered as an icon of resistance to the Jewish state.

Israel is also continuing a ground operation in Gaza to eliminate the Palestinian movement Hamas, which launched an attack on the country a year ago. The hostilities have brought unprecedented destruction to the enclave, resulting in severe criticism of the Israeli military for what has been described as indiscriminate strikes on civilians.
