Jacob Tremblay Makes Some Cute Friends in ‘Orion and the Dark’ Trailer. More details about the forthcoming animated movie Orion and the Dark on Netflix have been unveiled in the latest trailer.
The film was directed by Sean Charmatz and is based on Emma Yarlett’s best-selling children’s book. This will be DreamWorks’ first feature movie collaboration with longtime partner Netflix, and it will be penned by none other than famed screenwriter Charlie Kaufman.
Orion and the Dark | Official Trailer
The latest teaser gives us a look at the world through Dark’s eyes as he takes Orion around the city. In contrast to the first trailer, which was more broad in showcase, this time around, viewers get a more in-depth look at Dark’s friends.
In the latest trailer for Orion and the Dark, viewers get a closer look at Dark’s nighttime colleagues, which include Sleep (and her reliable hammer), Sweet Dreams, Quiet (as a mouse), Mysterious Noises, Insomnia (who is also very anxious because they haven’t slept in a while), and Dark’s nemesis, Light.
Each plays a fairly self-explanatory role, but the film shows them in an inside-out style that appeals to the target younger audience.
Orion and the Dark revolves around its two main characters. It leads with Orion (Jacob Tremblay), a primary school-aged kid afraid of nearly everything he can think of, from seemingly minor issues to more severe ones.
However, nothing scares Orion more than the darkness he must face every night. As if the darkness wasn’t terrible enough, Orion’s anxieties are heightened when the Dark visits him.
He isn’t there to harm Orion, though. Instead, Dark wants to show Orion that there is nothing to be frightened of; he even has his friends! As Dark teaches Orion the nuts and bolts of his job, the two become close friends as Orion embraces what previously frightened him.
