Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Hitoshi Iwaaki’s manga, Parasyte: The Grey, deviates significantly from the first anime and manga. Following the success of One Piece and Alice in Borderland, it is unexpected that Netflix is considering another manga adaptation.

What distinguishes Netflix’s Parasyte: The Grey from other adaptations is that it was produced in Korea, although it was based on Japanese manga.

Parasyte: The Grey | Official Teaser

Parasyte’s Grey Trailer hints at Netflix’s live-action adaptation of the horror anime series. Netflix recently released the trailer for Parasyte: The Greys.

While it seems to follow the core concept of the original manga and anime, it does not contain any of the key characters from the source materials. The trailer’s overall tone seems to be darker than that of the original anime.

The latest trailer depicts a world in which alien creatures known as the Parasites have taken in many people. The trailer depicts humans fighting for life over these parasites, who seriously threaten their existence.

The teaser trailer also features Kang-woo (played by Koo Kyo-hwan), who seeks the missing sister while hiding from the parasites. The trailer also highlights Team Grey’s resistance.

Furthermore, the clip depicts Heidi, a parasite, alongside Su-in, who has grown into a peculiar coexistence. In the anime Parasyte -the Maxim- the main character, Shinichi, stops a parasite from reaching his brain when it enters his arm.

Once the parasite has matured in his arm, it loses the capacity to spread to his brain. As a result, Shinichi and the parasite, whom he calls Migi, have a mutually beneficial relationship in which Shinichi keeps Migi nourished, and Migi saves Shinichi from other parasite-infested people.

Because the Netflix live-action series does not correctly recreate the original manga’s plot, Shinichi and Migi appear to have been replaced by two different characters.
