A passenger has died on a Jet2 plane[/caption]Flight LS3214 left the city of Burgas shortly after 1pm local time on September 16.
Around two hours into the UK-bound flight, crew declared an emergency after a man reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest.
Pilots immediately diverted the plane to Cologne and rapidly descended to the ground.
But despite efforts of those on board to resuscitate him, the man died.
A return flight to the UK was postponed until later that evening.
A jet2 spokesman said: “We can confirm that flight LS3214 from Bourgas to Liverpool Johnn Lennon diverted to Cologne on Monday 16th September, due to a customer requiring medical assistance.
“Regrettably, we can confirm that the customer sadly passed away.
“We would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the customer’s family and friends at this very difficult time.”
It comes after a flight attendant dropped dead in front of passengers as they boarded a plane.
Gabriella Cario – who worked for ITA Airways – was feeling unwell as she waited at the boarding gate on September.
The mum-of-three chose not to ask for help, however, because she wanted to return home to her husband and her three sons.
She reportedly dismissed the illness as just a “fainting spell”.
But as she boarded the plane she collapsed and she died within minutes in front of shocked passengers and colleagues.
All passengers were disembarked as onsite paramedics rushed to the aircraft.
They tried to revive the 57-year-old, but their efforts were in vain.
The tragedy happened at Reggio Calabria Airport, southeast of Naples, Italy.
ITA Airways flight 1156 bound for Rome Fiumicino was postponed to the evening after Cario’s death.
