Perkemi seeks to have kempo competed again at SEA Games

Jakarta - The Indonesian Shorinji Kempo Brotherhood (PB Perkemi) is working to have kempo competed in the SEA Games again after being absent in the last few editions.

The General Chairperson of PB Perkemi, Vice Admiral TNI (ret.) Agus Setiadji, stated that his party had submitted an application to include kempo as an official sport at the SEA Games in the future.

"For the SEA Games, we have applied, because currently WSKO (World Shorinji Kempo Organization) is trying to enter the TAFISA (The Association For International Sport for All) organization, part of the IOC (International Olympic Committee), so that Shorinji Kempo can be internationalized," said Agus Setiadji at the Shorinji Kempo Education and Training Center, Pondok Gede, Bekasi, Sunday.

Agus explained that so far Shorinji Kempo is still considered a cultural sport. However, now kempo has developed into a professional sport, so its parent organization must be affiliated with the IOC or its subsidiary organizations."Currently in the process of being able to enter. If the host party later, for example Thailand, Indonesia, or another country wants to include Shorinji Kempo as a sport, Alhamdulillah we can achieve even more achievements," he added.
