We need your help.

This year, we saw Jezebel shutter because they couldn't keep up with an ad-sustained model. They've re-launched and that's great, but the few independent sites left should not have to shut down because they're fighting gamed algorithms, well-funded right wing sites, and low ad rates. This is why we ask you to subscribe, if possible.

But even subscriptions don't account for the revenue needed to pay writers and cartoonists, license images, clip video, and serve that video with no ads. From the beginning, we've put video up for you to view without any pre-roll ads. Other sites use them extensively, but we've chosen to go ahead and serve them up ad-free with no charge. We would like to keep it that way.

It's not a stretch to say US democracy is on the ballot next November. Trump wants to rule like Putin, and MAGA evangelicals want to turn America into their version of Handmaid's Tale. Meanwhile, media makes it all into a horserace while ignoring Trump's promise to be a dictator. Our voices are the ones shouting for better media and more attention to the danger Trump poses.
