ATHENS - Catholic Church leader Pope Francis on Wednesday criticized the arms industry which he said was "profiting from death".
Addressing an audience at the Vatican at Wednesday's General Audience, he said that currently, the investments that generate the greatest income are arms factories.
“Profiting from death is a very bad thing,” he was quoted as saying by Vatican News .
Francis asked Catholics to pray for peace and the victims of war.
“War is always a defeat,” he said, calling for prayers for those suffering from the wars in Ukraine and Palestine.
Francis also highlighted the severe conditions experienced by Rohingya refugees in Myanmar due to the civil war.
“Let us pray for peace, let us ask for true peace for them and the whole world,” he said.
