Swiss President Viola Amherd said on Sunday that her country will not supply weapons to Ukraine, stressing that the Swiss state of emergency law does not apply to this case.
Amherd added in an interview with the Swiss newspaper “Blick”: “The emergency law was not discussed, and the right to activate the emergency mode can only be resorted to in cases of extreme necessity, as happened in the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. At the present time, Parliament is discussing an amendment to the Military Assets Law.” .
Amherd added that Switzerland will continue to purchase ammunition despite the shortage of stocks in Europe and the needs of Ukraine.
Switzerland will host a conference on Ukraine on June 15 and 16 next near the city of Lucerne.
Swiss President Viola Amherd stated earlier that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky asked her to organize a peace summit regarding his country.
Moscow also rejected the so-called "Zelensky equation" for peace in Ukraine, considering it "detached from reality." Russia insists that any solution to the conflict in Ukraine must take into account its interests and the "new reality on the ground."
