Wearing a Palestinian keffiyeh, Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib held up a sign reading "War Criminal" during Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech to the U.S. Congress on Wednesday.
A video clip showed the moment Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the pro-Palestinian protesters, in which he considered that they had "officially become Iran's useful idiots," while the footage showed Rashida Tlaib holding up a sign that read "War Criminal."
Photos showed Tlaib holding up the sign, which also read "Guilty of Genocide" on the other side.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was warmly introduced as he shook hands with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle as he arrived to address a joint session of Congress, The Times of Israel reported.
While three Democrats, including Rashida Tlaib, remained seated and did not applaud.
US media reported that Capitol Police began spraying pepper spray at protesters who were trying to cross the line set up by police ahead of Benjamin Netanyahu's speech in Congress.
