Eleven informal miners have been confirmed dead after being buried in tunnels by landslides in an open-pit copper mine in Zambia. One survivor has been found, but up to 26 others are still missing. The death toll is uncertain, with government officials estimating that as many as 38 miners may have been buried. The disaster occurred due to heavy rain causing landslides, flooding the area and trapping the miners. Rescue efforts are ongoing, with the help of the army, in an attempt to find more survivors.
