A former aide to Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) was indicted Tuesday on accusations that she worked on behalf of the Chinese Communist Party as an undisclosed agent.
Linda Sun and her husband are accused of violating the Foreign Agents Registration Act, visa fraud, alien smuggling and money laundering.
As kickbacks for her work, the couple were allegedly given kickbacks worth millions of dollars which the indictment says they used to buy homes in New York and Hawaii, along with “various luxury automobiles, including a 2024 Ferrari," the indictment reads.
In response to the accusations, right-wing commentators rushed to claim that Democrats were somehow in cahoots with China and its communist party.
Republican Congressional Campaign Committee communications director Jack Pandol claimed, "NY House Democrats are tied at the hip with a CCP agent."

DailySignal associate editor Hudson Crozier quoted from the indictment that Su worked in multiple "diversity officer" roles. He claimed, "China allegedly used Democrats' love of DEI to sneak into our government and advance [Chinese Communist Party] interests."
Real estate investor Joseph Chantry posted, "It always seems to be the Democrats who are getting into bed with foreign agents of the CCP. Why do you think that is?"
His claim, however, is far from accurate.
Donald Trump met with a businessman suspected of being a spy and of having connectons to Chinese organized crime at his Bedminster club in 2018 while serving as president, ProPublica reported.
And Chinese nationals have flocked to Mar-a-Lago, with one trespassing and taking photos and another who was carrying four cellphones, a laptop, and other electronic gear, leading some to think she could be trying to install spying equipment. The latter was ultimately deported.
While Su was working for Democrats, it was Democratic President Joe Biden's Justice Department, under the leadership of Democrat Merrick Garland, who arrested the woman.
