Alderoty Calls For Actions From VP
Ripple’s Chief Legal Officer (CLO), Stuart Alderoty, has called for action from Vice President Kamala Harris. Alderoty recently took to X and stated, “If this Admin is serious about a ‘reset,’ it must act NOW to end the SEC’s misguided war on crypto.”
Alderoty also lauded the Ripple SEC lawsuit ruling as a victory for not just them, but the entire crypto industry, as on Wednesday, the court ordered Ripple to pay a $125 million fine for failing to register sales of its XRP token to institutional investors. This amount is nowhere near the $2 billion originally sought by the SEC.
Harris’ Efforts To Engage With Crypto Community
Recently, Harris’s campaign representatives participated in a crypto roundtable organized by Democratic Congressman Ro Khanna. The roundtable was part of Harris’s broader effort to engage with the crypto community. With the Crypto4Harris town hall event currently underway, this further highlights the campaign’s efforts to connect with crypto advocates.
In addition, Paul Grewal, Coinbase’s Chief Legal Officer stressed the importance of focusing on the Harris campaign’s potential to reshape the government’s approach to crypto, noting her as a strong new face for crypto and make a break with the past.
Cardano Chief Says Things Could Go Worse?
However, Cardano chief Charles Hoskinson said that there appears to be no “crypto reset” as portrayed by the Harris camp. He added that things rather seem to be worse than they were before. Voting for the Vice President would be a vote against the American crypto industry, he said.
Notably, according to a recent report from Reuters, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong stated that the next U.S. administration will be “constructive” on crypto regardless of which party wins, underscoring the industry’s growing political influence ahead of the November election.
