A statement issued by the agency said: “On May 23 of this year, a meeting was held in Moscow that included the heads of the space agencies of the countries participating in the BRICS group, and the head of the Russian Roscosmos Agency, Yuri Borisov, offered the partners cooperation in the field of manned space flights, and pointed out the possibility of establishing Units belonging to the BRICS countries to be included in the promising Russian orbital station (ROS), and the possibility of creating a joint unit in the station belonging to the BRICS countries, to implement manned space flight programmes.”
The statement pointed out that "cooperation between the BRICS countries in the fields of space is supposed to include conducting scientific and applied research experiments, in addition to an integrated training course for astronauts belonging to the group's countries."
During the aforementioned meeting, Borisov pointed out that “taking into account the accession of new countries to BRICS, the total number of satellites in the satellite groups of the BRICS countries exceeded 1,200 satellites.”
Borisov recently indicated that Russia is discussing with the BRICS countries areas of cooperation to develop satellite constellations, especially the development of satellite constellations for remote sensing of the Earth, and cooperation between the countries of the group will include areas of developing space missiles and developing modern engines for these missiles.
