RUSSIAN soldiers were seen surrendering after their trenches were overrun in Ukraine.

One said he took part of a botched assault on a chemical factory near Vovchansk while others captured in Terny, where his comrades were blitzed by kamikaze drones.

He also vowed to punish the West for using frozen Russian assets to bolster Ukraine’s warchest.

The G7 group of nations pledged a $50bn loan for Ukraine would be underwritten by interest payments from around $235bn of frozen Russian assets.

Rishi Sunak will join Ukraine’s Voldymyr Zelensky and other leaders at a peace summit in Switzerland this weekend.

Mr Sunak said: “Our goal is peace, but let us not confuse peace with surrender.”

President Zelensky met the Pope at the G7 summit yesterday.
