St. Petersburg State University in Russia announced the signing of a cooperation agreement with Sultan Qaboos University in Oman, within the framework of which the possibility of establishing a joint university is being discussed.
A statement issued by the university said: “Saint Petersburg State University and Sultan Qaboos University of Oman signed a partnership agreement, within the framework of which representatives of both parties discussed the possibilities of enhancing cooperation. Both parties considered the possibility of opening a joint university and benefiting from the capabilities of our university, which has experience in implementing such projects. With the support of the Modern Group, a branch of Saint Petersburg State University was opened in Egypt in 2019. Cooperation between our university and Harbin Polytechnic University in China was also coordinated, and a branch of our university was also established in Uzbekistan.”
The statement indicated that "the new project with Sultan Qaboos University in Oman will enhance deep cooperation between the two universities, unify the scientific and educational resources of both sides, and create a unique platform for joint research. This cooperation will also contribute to developing new curricula and improving the quality of education."
Sultan Qaboos University, which was established in 1986, is one of the most important government universities in the Sultanate of Oman. It has more than 15,000 students and includes the College of Education, the College of Engineering, the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, the College of Agricultural and Marine Sciences, the College of Science, the College of Commerce and Economics, and the College of Law.
