The two women targeted Chilean holidaymakers Ronald Rafael Tejeda Sobarzo and Andrés Ignacio Orellana Ruiz.

The pair slipped the infamous “Goodnight Cinderella” date-rape drug into the men’s beers.

The four then got into a taxi and headed off to the Santa Teresa neighbourhood of Rio de Janeiro.

The sex workers stole the men’s mobile phones before pushing the drugged tourists off a 10ft tall cliff into an abyss.

Tejeda and Orellana, aged 29, survived the fall and were found alive the next morning on May 14, 2023.

The two were rushed to the hospital where Tejeda passed away three days later.

He suffered a severe head injury while Orellana sustained broken ribs, a broken collarbone, and punctures to both lungs.

Orellana spent several days on the hospital bed where he underwent a surgery.

The victim said he didn’t remember anything that happened after he got into the taxi.

The police found and arrested the two sex workers in the neighbouring city of Duque de Caxias on May 22, last year.

They both protested their innocence at the time.

But the pair were convicted of robbery-homicide and another attempted robbery-homicide at a court in Rio.

Silva and Melo are set to spend 30 years and four months behind the bars following their sentencing.

Taxi driver Marcelo de Oliveira Manso was also punished for aiding and abetting the crime.

What is a Goodnight Cinderella robbery?

In Brazil, the date rape drug GBH is also known by the name ‘Goodnight Cinderella’ as it renders victims unconscious and vulnerable to attacks.

The party drug which can cause blackouts, inability to move limbs, vomiting and drowsiness has been reportedly used by perpetrators of sexual assaults and robberies.

Slipping the drug, which can sometimes be mixed with other substances, into a victim’s drink leaves them unable to react and often completely unable to remember a crime taking place.

Tourists in Brazil shared horror stories online, warning that they had been distracted by strangers in the street before being spiked with the drug, which can be fatal in high doses.

The US Embassy has also warned tourists to be alert after widespread reports of sedative drugs being used to rob and attack unknowing victims of crime in Brazil.

He will serve 25 years and three months in prison.

It comes as a Brit, who claimed that he’d been the victim of a “Goodnight, Cinderella” scam, was investigated for fraud.

The 48-year-old, who had been holidaying with his wife, told cops he’d been conned when he had allegedly spent all of his cash on call girls.

He was accused of making a false report and of fraud.

The Brit – then in the company of women – allegedly began spending money on drinks at a club in Copacabana.

His wife, who was in their hotel room at the time, noticed the extravagant spending and assumed he was in danger.

So she called the bank and cancelled his card.

When he returned to his hotel room, he told his wife that he’d fallen victim to a scam and, hours later, went to the Tourist Police station to make a report.

His £3,500 nightclub bill – the amount he claimed he’d been conned out of – was allegedly reversed, which is why he is now under investigation for fraud.
