Shahbaz Sharif was elected as the leader of the 16th National Assembly of Pakistan.
Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq announced the election of Shehbaz Sharif as the Prime Minister.
Shahbaz Sharif was supported by many parties including Muslim League-N, Pakistan Peoples Party, Pakistan Muslim League, MQM Pakistan, while Umar Ayub Khan was supported by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Sunni Ittehad Council.

After the general elections 2024, the meeting of the National Assembly has started to elect the new Prime Minister of Pakistan, which is chaired by Speaker Ayaz Sadiq.
The voting process for the election of the new Prime Minister has been completed in the meeting. Members went to designated lobbies to vote for their respective candidates where their votes were counted.
At the beginning of the session, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq read the procedure for the election of the Prime Minister to the members of the Assembly, while the protest is ongoing on the part of the members of the Sunni Ittihad Council regarding the alleged rigging of the elections and not being given specific seats.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf spokesperson Rauf Hassan says that Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has been elected unopposed as the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Insaf.
Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Rauf Hassan announced the results of the intra-party elections at a news conference in Islamabad.
According to Rauf Hassan, 'We have conducted intra-party elections for the third time.'
He said that four applications for the chairmanship were received out of which only one application was approved after scrutiny.
