  • The United Arab Emirates government has partnered with Shiba Inu in advancing next-generation, Web3 solutions in energy and infrastructure.
  • This development follows a teaser from Shytoshi Kusama, Shiba Inu’s lead developer, who hinted at a significant partnership just last week, sparking anticipation within the community.

Shiba Inu (SHIB), an Ethereum-based token launched in 2020, has evolved from being just a meme coin into a full-fledged crypto ecosystem. It is currently the second-largest meme coin by market capitalization, valued at approximately $9 billion. Yesterday, SHIB partnered with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI), as revealed in an X post on February 4.

As stated in the post, this collaboration aims to integrate Shiba Inu’s Web3 technologies into UAE’s government services, promoting efficiency, green infrastructure, and citizen-centric governance models.

Shiba Inu’s Role in UAE’s Blockchain Strategy

The UAE government has been proactive in adopting blockchain technology to enhance its public services. The country’s Blockchain Strategy aims to transition 50% of all government transactions to blockchain, saving over $3 billion in transaction and document processing expenses.

Through its partnership with MoEI, Shiba Inu will contribute to this transformation by deploying its Operational System (ShibOS) to unify development across MoEI operations. This collaboration is expected to boost efficiency, sustainability, and connectivity across various government services.

Shiba Inu’s integration into the UAE’s digital infrastructure brings several advantages, making it a strong choice for blockchain adoption. As an ERC-20 token, SHIB operates securely on the Ethereum blockchain while benefiting from high trading volume and strong liquidity. Its wide availability on major exchanges ensures accessibility and its loyal community actively supports its growth. Moreover, the intuitive design of the Shiba Inu ecosystem simplifies blockchain adoption for users.

Key technologies like TREAT and Shibarium further enhance this partnership. TREAT streamlines Web3 adoption by allowing users to interact with blockchain networks effortlessly, similar to traditional internet applications. Meanwhile, Shibarium, Shiba Inu’s Layer-2 scaling solution, improves transaction speed, reduces costs, and enhances scalability, ensuring more efficient government services.

His Excellency Eng Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at MoEI, emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating:

We’re delighted to deepen our commitment to cutting-edge digital services. This partnership represents a pivotal moment in our journey toward redefining government services. By embracing emerging technologies, we aim to set a global benchmark for innovation, delivering transformative solutions that benefit both our citizens and the wider community. Together, we are shaping a future built on sustainability, connectivity, and digital excellence.

Following the announcement, Shiba Inu whales executed significant transactions. According to IntoTheBlock, over 15.1 trillion SHIB tokens, worth approximately $253.05 million, were moved within 24 hours. At the time of writing, SHIB was trading at $0.00001633, reflecting a 5.12% increase over the past 24 hours but still facing an 11.34% decline over the past week, highlighting the token’s ongoing market volatility.
