Why BlackRock & Grayscale Should Consider a Shiba Inu ETF – 10 Key Reasons
  • On March 12, Shiba Inu’s Marketing Lead, Lucie, announced the introduction of a new fishing-based mini-game within the SHIB Metaverse.
  • As players participate in the game, they will have the opportunity to earn and trade by collecting in-game currency and exchanging items within the ecosystem.

Since the initial launch of Shib: The Metaverse on Shiba Inu’s custom blockchain, Shibarium, in December 2024, developers have been focused on expanding the platform with new features, including parkour challenges and a structured in-game economy. As part of this ongoing development, Shiba Inu’s Marketing Lead, Lucie, recently posted on X to announce the launch of the Metaverse Fishing Minigame.

This new feature is designed to enhance player engagement across the 100,595 individual plots of land, introducing mechanics such as skill progression, resource management, and trading. By integrating these elements, Shib: The Metaverse aims to create a more interactive virtual world, providing landowners and players with new ways to explore and participate in the platform’s economy.

Key Features of the Fishing Game

The Metaverse will introduce several interactive elements that will enhance engagement and strategic gameplay. Players will be able to earn and trade by collecting in-game currency and exchanging items within the ecosystem. The system will also incorporate skill progression, allowing participants to gain experience points (XP) and improve their fishing abilities over time.

Additionally, an inventory management system will enable users to store their catches and manage fishing gear efficiently. Rare collections, including certain fish species and exclusive items, will encourage exploration and collection-based gameplay.

Lucie also indicated that owning virtual land within Shib: The Metaverse will come with specific advantages related to the fishing system. These land plots are spread across four distinct zones: Growth, Defense, Technology, and Currencies, each offering different environments and opportunities.

The metaverse also features social hubs such as Ryoshi Plaza and WAGMI Temple, designed to encourage interaction and community engagement. While specific details on the benefits have yet to be revealed, these incentives are expected to further enhance the value and functionality of virtual land within the ecosystem.

Upon launch, TREAT token holders will receive early access to the fishing feature, granting them the opportunity to explore premium locations and earn rewards before the wider community. While Shiba Inu has previously introduced other ecosystem games, such as Shiba Eternity and Agent Shiboshi, the fishing game will be the first to launch directly within Shib: The Metaverse, marking a significant expansion of its virtual world.

Meanwhile, Agent Shiboshi has introduced a 1v1 duel feature, adding a high-stakes competitive mode to the game. As indicated in our earlier report, this feature enhances player engagement and contributes to SHIB token deflation. Each duel requires 50,000 SHIB per player, with 80% awarded to the winner, 10% burned, and the remaining 10% allocated to platform funding.

Amid these developments, SHIB’s price saw a 5.05% increase to $0.00001230 at press time. However, market interest showed mixed signals, as trading volume dropped by 35.22% to $309 million over the past 24 hours.
