The violent scenes unfolded on the Los Abrigos beach on the south coast of Tenerife and a man has been arrested following the incident.

Footage shows a man yelling at another before using full force to hit him with the stick as he makes an attempt to escape.

The victim of the blows is seen tumbling down the beach while the man chases him and continues to whack him with the pole.

Children are seen being dragged away by their parents to safety as the attacker appears to have no shame in the public assault.

The victim even wades out into the sea to avoid further suffering, but gets followed by the aggressor even though he’s fully clothed.

He continues to be battered by the man and even gets striked over the head.

The clip shows the victim staggering around following the blows, presumably due to the shock of the attack and the intense injuries he sustained.

Onlookers continue to watch on in disbelief and horror, with bystanders unsure on how to approach the violent situation.

A picture circulating online showed the victim’s back covered in marks and slashes following the attack

Initial reports claimed that the incident was sparked by an alleged pickpocket trying to steal a tourist’s wallet.

But police sources say neither is a holidaymaker and it is not being investigated as a “karma” attack on an alleged pickpocket as reports have claimed.

But a well-placed source said: “The two people involved have no fixed abode, live in caves and have problems of co-existence.”

Another insider close to the investigation added: “Neither man, the victim of the beating or the aggressor, is a tourist.

“One is from Austria and the other is from the Netherlands. They are of no fixed abode and live in caves.”

Police have yet to officially confirm the nationality of the detainee but he is thought to be the Dutch national rather than the Austrian man caught up in the drama.

Another fight in Palma, Majorca saw a brawl erupt in a beach club with the perpetrator allegedly calling in his own family for backup.

Footage shows drinkers swinging fists and attempting to smash chairs over staff member’s heads in Majorca’s capital.

The thug reportedly launched an attack on random customers and waiting staff before being asked to leave by the owner.

But the perpetrator allegedly proceeded to call in his family, marking the beginning of the seven-minute long fight.

What initially started as a scrap quickly escalated into a wild brawl involving several people.

As a result of the scary fight, it’s reported some individuals had to receive hospital treatment – some with large open wounds.

An off-duty Civil Guard officer was on the premises and told local police what had occurred when they arrived.
